Crypto whale up $11.5M on AI token position in 19 days
A cryptocurrency whale invested over $10 million in the Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUAL) token, generating an unrealized profit of $11.5 million within 19 days. The investment increased the token's value from $10 million to $21.5 million. VIRTUAL serves as a utility token for an AI agent launch platform, allowing users to create and co-own autonomous AI agents without coding skills. The token gained over 44% in value starting November 15, reaching an all-time high of $5.07 on January 2, 2025. AI agents are executing autonomous transactions on the blockchain, as demonstrated by an interaction between two AI agents, Luna and STIX Protocol. Despite recent interest, AI-based cryptocurrencies experienced a decline, losing nearly one-third of their value in December 2024, with a market cap drop of over 28% from a peak of $70 billion. Industry experts predict growth in AI-driven investments and decentralized AI agents in 2025, albeit with associated risks.
