Digital Currency Group’s Barry Silbert Bets Big on AI Blockchain Bittensor
Digital Currency Group (DCG) is expanding into decentralized artificial intelligence (AI) with the launch of Yuma, a new company aimed at incubating businesses that utilize decentralized AI within the Bittensor ecosystem. Bittensor incentivizes contributions of data and computing power for various tasks, using its native cryptocurrency, $TAO, to reward decentralized workers. DCG first invested in Bittensor in 2021 and has since included AI-focused funds through Grayscale. Yuma, led by CEO Barry Silbert, operates similarly to a venture capital firm and accelerator, currently overseeing five live subnets with nine more in development. These subnets cover diverse applications, including bot detection, time series prediction, AI research, security, and sports predictions.
