Donald Trump Advisor Bo Hines: There Is a ‘Space Race’ to Build Bitcoin Reserves
Bo Hines, executive director of the President's Council of Advisers on Digital Assets, aims to establish a U.S. Bitcoin reserve, viewing it as a competitive necessity akin to a space race. The U.S. currently holds about 2.3% of total Bitcoin supply, slightly surpassing China. Hines expressed confidence in the U.S. Treasury and Chamber of Commerce to devise innovative strategies for Bitcoin accumulation, suggesting that tariffs from the Trump administration could be a method. He dismissed questions about the quantity of Bitcoin to acquire, emphasizing the desire for maximum accumulation. Hines indicated a focus on Bitcoin over other digital assets, highlighting its unique status as a commodity with intrinsic value. He noted that implementation of Bitcoin accumulation measures is expected to begin soon, pending Treasury approval. Additionally, he mentioned plans to advance stablecoin and market structure legislation before the August recess.
