Donald Trump’s media company to terminate Crypto.com deal
Trump Media and Technology Group is backing away from two Crypto.com partnerships and shifting focus to a merger with energy company TAE. The dropped plans included a $6.4 billion CRO treasury deal and a prediction-markets feature for Truth Social. TMTG, Crypto.com, and Yorkville Acquisition Corp said changing market conditions and stakeholder priorities led to the breakup. The CRO treasury plan had been announced in September 2025, and Truth Social later said it would launch “Truth Predict” in October. Interim CEO Kevin McGurn reportedly framed the reversal as a competitive decision, not a regulatory one. The move comes as lawmakers continue pressing for ethics safeguards in crypto legislation over potential conflicts involving the Trump family’s digital asset interests.
