Dubai’s Token2049, TON Crypto Conferences Canceled as Iran Conflict Rages On
Two major cryptocurrency conferences in Dubai, The Open Network’s (TON) Gateway event and Token2049, have been canceled or postponed due to safety concerns arising from regional geopolitical tensions and the Iran war conflict. TON’s Gateway event was canceled entirely, with ticket holders promised refunds within 14 days. Token2049 postponed its Dubai conference, originally set for April 2024, to April 2027. Ticket holders for Token2049 can use their tickets next year or transfer them to the Singapore event later in 2024, but refund details for those unwilling or unable to attend are unclear. Organizers have advised attendees to modify travel arrangements and emphasized that attendee safety is their priority. The Dubai events were expected to feature prominent industry figures, but concerns over travel safety, logistics, and uncertainty led to the decision to not proceed at this time.
