DuckDuckGo Launched Duck AI. Now Their Hit Product is 'No AI'
DuckDuckGo launched a Chrome extension, plus a Firefox version, that makes its AI-free search subdomain the default and removes AI summaries, AI images, and other AI features from search. The move follows Google’s new AI-heavy Search changes, and DuckDuckGo says traffic to its “No AI” page has surged, along with U.S. app installs. DuckDuckGo still offers AI products like Duck.ai and DuckAssist, but now emphasizes that AI should be optional. The broader trend is anti-AI demand: Brave introduced Brave Origin, a $59.99 stripped-down browser with AI and other extras removed, while Mozilla’s upcoming Firefox redesign will include a single toggle to disable current and future AI features. The common pitch is simple: software that lets users choose how much AI they want, or none at all.
