El Salvador works with Nvidia to develop sovereign AI infrastructure
El Salvador has signed a letter of intent with Nvidia to develop artificial intelligence for national development, focusing on "sovereign AI" to drive innovation and economic growth. The collaboration will provide access to Nvidia's AI tools and expertise, targeting areas such as culture, language, environment, and economy. The initiative aims to build domestic AI infrastructure, upskill the workforce, and create solutions for local challenges, including healthcare, education, and economic productivity. AI training programs for developers and government officials will be established. This partnership follows previous AI initiatives, including the CUBO_ai education program announced in March 2025. Despite aggressive AI efforts, El Salvador's Bitcoin ambitions face challenges, including restrictions from the International Monetary Fund on further Bitcoin purchases while the government continues to acquire Bitcoin daily.
