Elon Musk’s SpaceX Moves Bitcoin Holdings for First Time in 3 Years
SpaceX has transferred $153 million worth of Bitcoin, moving 1,308 BTC from multiple addresses to a single SegWit-compatible wallet, marking its first blockchain activity in three years. The company currently holds 8,285 BTC, valued at approximately $988.89 million. The last Bitcoin transfer occurred in June 2022, when over 3,500 tokens were sent to Coinbase. The reasons for the recent transfer remain unclear, and SpaceX did not respond to inquiries regarding this activity. The company, founded by Elon Musk in 2002, first disclosed its Bitcoin holdings in July 2021. Recent scrutiny of SpaceX's government contracts follows tensions between Musk and former President Trump. Concerns have arisen about the potential need to sell Bitcoin for funds, but SpaceX is reportedly planning to sell around $1 billion in shares, potentially valuing the company at $400 billion. Bitcoin is currently trading at approximately $119,800, having increased by 21% over the past month.
