ESMA Adds 14 New CASPs to MiCA Register as Licensing Slows

Summary

European regulators added 14 more crypto firms to the MiCA register, bringing the total licensed crypto-asset service providers to 294. The update shows a slower pace after the first major post-deadline surge, when 37 firms were added. New entrants include Ripple Payments Europe, Portugal’s Bison Bank, and Croatia’s state-owned Hrvatska poštanska banka, along with several traditional banks such as German cooperative banks and Liechtenstein’s Kaiser Partner Privatbank. This continues a trend of banks and established financial institutions entering Europe’s regulated crypto market. ESMA reported no changes to the registers for electronic money tokens or asset-referenced tokens: 21 EMT issuers are listed, while the ART register still has none. The regulator also added two more entities to its non-compliant list after actions by Italy’s CONSOB, raising that list to 164 entries.
