Ethereum Foundation Stakes More ETH, Boosting Total to $50 Million

Summary

The Ethereum Foundation recently staked 22,517 ETH (about $46.2 million) across 11 transactions as part of an ongoing treasury strategy to increase staking. Overall, it has now staked 24,623 ETH, valued at approximately $50 million, with a stated goal of staking up to 70,000 ETH (about $142 million). Staking locks up tokens to validate network transactions and earns yield rewards, which will go back to the foundation. As of now, the Foundation holds about 147,000 ETH (worth over $364 million), and roughly $78 billion of ETH is staked network-wide. These moves align with efforts to enhance financial sustainability and support Ethereum’s ecosystem, including involvement in the new Ethereum Economic Zone (EEZ). The EEZ is aimed at improving coordination and efficiency for Ethereum’s layer-2 scaling networks, allowing shared environments rather than duplication and isolation. The EEZ proposal is backed by Gnosis and Zisk, with implicit support from Vitalik Buterin, who recently reshared its announcement.
