FBI blames North Korea for record $6.3B Binance hack

Summary

The FBI attributed the theft of about $6.3 billion from Binance to North Korea and named the activity TraderTraitor. It said the stolen assets were being converted mainly into Ether and may be laundered through DeFi and instant-swap services. The agency urged crypto businesses and infrastructure operators to block transactions linked to listed addresses. CertiK research cited in the report says North Korea-linked groups accounted for more than $2 billion of crypto losses in 2025, and estimates the country has stolen about $6.75 billion since 2016.
