Franklin Templeton's Tokenized Treasury Fund Lands on HashKey
Franklin Templeton is distributing its tokenized U.S. government money market fund, grBENJI, on HashKey Exchange in Hong Kong, giving professional clients access to a blockchain-based pool of short-term U.S. government debt and cash. The fund, available only to professional investors and not to the public in Hong Kong, has been tokenized since 2021 and tracks short-end Treasury yields, with recent returns around 3.6% and a $1.00 NAV. The listing reflects growing institutional demand for compliant real-world asset yield. Franklin Templeton said it plans to expand beyond tokenized money market funds into other tokenized products and use HashKey across multiple markets, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Dubai, and Bermuda. The firm is also broadening distribution through partnerships with Kraken, Binance, DigiFT, and MoonPay Trade, and it has launched Franklin Crypto after acquiring 250 Digital, even using BENJI tokens in that transaction to signal on-chain M&A activity.
