French Senate adopts bill for automatic sharing of crypto tax data
Summary
France’s Senate passed a bill at first reading to enable automatic exchange of crypto transaction and tax data with foreign authorities, based on the OECD’s CARF framework. The bill now goes to the National Assembly. France already requires crypto service providers to report customer identities and transaction data under DAC8. Separately, lawmakers are considering a proposal to tax gains from conversions into certain fiat-pegged stablecoins from 2027; it has not become law. The planned EU data-sharing system has raised privacy and security concerns, particularly amid physical attacks on crypto holders. CertiK recorded 52 verified wrench attacks worldwide in the first half of 2026, including 33 in France.
