G7 to Discuss Crypto Hacks, Tackle North Korean Issue: Report
Leaders from the G7 countries will discuss addressing North Korea's cyber activities and crypto hacks at a summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, from June 15 to 17. Investigations reveal that stolen funds from crypto hacks have supported North Korea's weapons development. The G7 includes France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the U.K., the U.S., and Canada. North Korea has developed sophisticated cyber operations, targeting digital assets with complex tactics, resulting in significant losses, including $622 million from Axie Infinity and $230 million from WazirX. North Korea's ties with Russia have deepened, complicating response efforts to cyber threats. The Lazarus Group is a known threat actor, with the February hack of Bybit, totaling $1.4 billion, attributed to them.
