German Savings Banks Begin Crypto Trading Rollout Inside Sparkassen App
Summary
Germany’s Sparkassen group is starting a phased crypto-trading service in its banking app on October 19. Regional banks opt in individually, with 30 to 40 expected to join each month and many interested institutions targeted for connection in the first half of 2027. The initial offering includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana and Polygon. DekaBank operates the service, with Börse Stuttgart involved in custody. Sparkassen warns that crypto is highly speculative and customers could lose their entire investment, while continuing to favor traditional savings for long-term wealth building.
