Google Launches Gemini Spark: A 24/7 AI Agent That Wants to Make You Ditch OpenClaw
Google announced Gemini Spark, an AI agent that proactively manages tasks across users’ apps without waiting for specific instructions. Built on Gemini 3.5 and Google’s Antigravity harness, Spark operates in the cloud, running continuously even when devices are inactive. Spark can automatically monitor emails, check for new or hidden subscriptions on credit card statements, summarize meeting notes from Gmail and Docs, and send follow-up communications. Users can program custom skills and workflows to suit their preferences. Spark integrates natively with Gmail, Google Docs, Slides, and the Google Workspace suite, and can connect to services like Canva, OpenTable, and Instacart to perform actions like booking reservations or placing orders. Google will expand Spark's capabilities to include texting, emailing, custom sub-agents, browser operation, and a forthcoming macOS desktop version. The service emphasizes user supervision for sensitive actions and will request permission for high-stakes tasks. Trusted testers can access Spark immediately, with U.S. Google AI Ultra subscribers gaining beta access next week at a reduced subscription price.
