HBO Is Joining Search for Bitcoin's Satoshi. Past Attempts Haven’t Turned Out Great.
HBO is set to release a documentary titled "Money Electric: the Bitcoin Mystery," claiming to reveal the true identity of Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. Directed by Cullen Hoback, known for exposing QAnon's leader, the documentary aims to solve a long-standing mystery. Previous attempts to identify Satoshi have failed, including Leah McGrath Goodman's 2014 claim about Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto and Craig Wright's assertions of being Satoshi, which were discredited by a U.K. court ruling. The crypto community largely agrees that Satoshi's identity may be better left unknown, with various candidates suggested, including Hal Finney, Nick Szabo, and Len Sassaman. Public interest remains high, but definitive proof of Satoshi's identity or access to the associated 1.1 million bitcoins remains elusive.
