Helium partners with AT&T to bring WiFi to thousands of US locations

Summary

Helium partnered with AT&T to provide WiFi access to users, allowing AT&T customers to connect to Helium’s network of over 93,500 hotspots, primarily in the U.S. The Helium Network is operated by individuals and businesses that manage small cell towers, earning digital assets for their contributions. Helium Mobile co-founder Amir Haleem stated that the partnership will enhance adoption and deliver value to users. The integration allows WiFi authentication through AT&T’s Passpoint service, merging decentralized nodes with traditional networks. Helium claims over 800,000 daily users and has agreements with Telefónica’s Movistar in Mexico. In January, the SEC filed a lawsuit against Helium developer Nova Labs for selling unregistered investment products, but the lawsuit was settled in April with a $200,000 penalty, affirming that their operations do not classify as securities.
