Huobi Hong Kong Withdraws License Application for the Second Time

Summary

The Hong Kong-based subsidiary of HTX, Huobi Hong Kong, has withdrawn its application for a virtual asset trading license, as per a notice on the Securities and Futures Commission’s (SFC) website. The SFC has stated that platforms failing to submit a license application must shut down by May 31, though it did not clarify why Huobi Hong Kong's application was withdrawn. Other major crypto exchanges like OKX, Crypto.com, and Bullish are currently undergoing license review by the SFC. In June 2023, HTX's Justin Sun predicted that Huobi Hong Kong would secure a license within 6-12 months. HTX insists that Huobi Hong Kong operates as a completely separate entity.
