Israel Extradites Alleged Nomad Bridge Exploiter to US Over $2.8M Theft: Report
Summary
Israel extradited Alexander Block, an Israeli-Russian citizen, to the United States to face charges over allegedly stealing more than $2.8 million from crypto bridge Nomad. U.S. prosecutors say he exploited a smart-contract flaw in 2022, moved the tokens through multiple wallets and converted them to other cryptocurrencies. The flaw was subsequently used by others to drain nearly all of Nomad’s funds, totaling more than $186 million. Israeli courts rejected Block’s arguments that the transactions were permitted by the software and that public blockchain records undermined money-laundering allegations. He was indicted on computer fraud, stolen-property and money-laundering charges.
