Japan’s biggest payment network opens its doors for crypto via Binance Pay

Summary

PayPay added Binance Pay on Sept. 30, allowing identity-verified overseas visitors to pay at participating Japanese offline stores using crypto held in Binance accounts. The feature works through QR codes in the Binance app, with crypto converted to yen during checkout and merchants receiving yen. It is unavailable to Japan residents, including Binance Japan users, and requires stores to support the cross-border service. More than 100 cryptocurrencies are supported. Exchange rates are shown before confirmation, but refunds are separate transactions and may differ due to rate changes and foreign-exchange spreads.
