Kazakhstan's Central Bank Will Invest Up to $350 Million in Crypto Assets: Reuters
Kazakhstan’s central bank will invest $350 million in crypto-related assets, with deployment set to begin as soon as next month. The capital will be drawn from the nation’s gold and foreign exchange reserves, totaling about $70 billion. Rather than holding cryptocurrencies directly, the investments will include shares of high-tech companies tied to digital financial assets, index funds, and similar financial instruments. The national bank is currently selecting companies involved in cryptocurrency infrastructure. This move is part of a broader diversification effort, and follows President Tokayev’s support last year for establishing a strategic crypto reserve as a foundation for a new digital financial system. Plans align with development goals for Alatau City, envisioned as a fully digitalized urban center using crypto for payments.
