Ledger Introduces Physical ‘Recovery Key’ NFC Backup for Wallets
Ledger has launched a new backup solution called the "Recovery Key" for its Ledger Flex and Ledger Stax wallets, enabling users to recover access to their crypto assets. The Recovery Key features NFC connectivity and a Secure Element that stores a PIN-protected backup key. Users can recover their wallets by tapping the card against the device and entering a PIN. This method is designed to be simpler than the traditional 24-word seed phrase but does not replace it, serving as an additional layer for convenience. The Recovery Key has undergone extensive security testing and is part of Ledger's commitment to transparency. Ledger emphasizes that its devices are upgradeable to address vulnerabilities, distinguishing itself from competitors like Cypherrock. The Recovery Key will be available soon.
