Ledger secures Discord after hacker bot tried to steal seed phrases
Ledger's Discord server has been secured after a moderator's account was compromised on May 11, allowing an attacker to post scam links aimed at stealing users' seed phrases. The breach was contained quickly; the compromised account and malicious bot were removed, and security measures were enhanced. Some users reported that the attacker misused moderator privileges to silence them while they attempted to report the incident. The hacker falsely claimed a security vulnerability and directed users to verify recovery phrases via a scam link. It remains unclear if any users were affected. In April, scammers also sent physical letters to Ledger wallet owners, requesting validation of private seed phrases using a QR code, potentially targeting customers whose data was leaked in a 2020 breach that exposed personal information of over 270,000 users.
