Metaplanet Continues Bitcoin Buying Spree, Adding $28 Million in BTC to Holdings
Metaplanet, a Japanese investment firm, purchased 330 Bitcoin for over $28 million, increasing its total holdings to 4,855 BTC valued at over $422 million. The company has invested approximately $414.5 million in Bitcoin at an average price of $85,386 per coin. Metaplanet's Bitcoin yield stands at 119.3% year-to-date for 2025. The firm, often compared to MicroStrategy, aims to integrate digital assets into its business model, emphasizing innovation in finance. Bitcoin's current price is around $87,200, reflecting a 2.8% increase in 24 hours and nearly 35% growth over the past year. Despite the announcement, Metaplanet's stock fell nearly 1%, although it has risen over 1,200% since Bitcoin purchases began in 2024. Recently, Eric Trump was appointed to Metaplanet's Strategic Advisory Board.
