Metaplanet Crosses 5K BTC in Latest Purchase, Halfway to Target
Metaplanet Inc. has reached 5,000 Bitcoin holdings, halfway to its goal of 10,000 by the end of 2025. The company acquired 145 BTC for approximately $13.6 million at an average price of $93,327 per coin. Total Bitcoin holdings are valued at roughly $428 million, positioning Metaplanet among the top 10 publicly listed Bitcoin holders globally. The firm aims to acquire 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026 and has purchased over 1,650 BTC in April alone, totaling nearly $153 million. This acquisition strategy follows a $745 million capital raise, the largest in Asia, allowing for flexible Bitcoin purchases. Metaplanet reported a BTC Yield of 95.6% from January to March 2025 and 13.0% for April 2025. Despite the significant purchase, Metaplanet's stock fell by 4.57% to $2.49.
