Metaplanet To Expand Bitcoin Holdings With $11.3 Million Bond Sale

Summary

The Tokyo-listed company will sell bonds with a guarantee of 1.75 billion yen, maturing on November 17, 2025, at an interest rate of 0.36% per annum. Proceeds will be used exclusively for purchasing Bitcoin. Metaplanet currently holds 1,018 BTC and has adopted a "Bitcoin-first, Bitcoin-only" strategy, similar to MicroStrategy. Since April, the firm has steadily expanded its Bitcoin portfolio, acquiring additional BTC in June, September, and October. Despite the bond issuance announcement, Metaplanet's share price increased by 0.81%. Since starting its acquisition strategy, shares have surged nearly 950%.
