Montenegro’s Supreme Court stalls Do Kwon’s extradition amid legal tussle
Montenegro's Supreme Court has indefinitely suspended the extradition of Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon to South Korea. The decision overrules previous rulings from two lower courts that approved Kwon's extradition. The Supreme State Prosecutor's Office requested the suspension, arguing that the High Court overstepped its authority by conducting a hasty legal process, which should have been under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice. The Prosecutor's Office also criticized the Appellate Court for not considering its position in the appeal process. Kwon has been in Montenegrin custody for attempting to use fake travel documents. Both South Korea and the United States are seeking his extradition due to his role in the collapse of the Terra ecosystem in 2022.
