Mt. Gox creditors face another year of waiting as repayment deadline slips to 2027

Summary

A Japanese court approved Mt. Gox trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi’s request to extend the creditor repayment deadline by one year, from Oct. 31, 2026, to Oct. 31, 2027. The extension covers base, early lump-sum and intermediate repayments. Most payments to creditors who completed required procedures have been made, but some claimants remain unpaid because of incomplete paperwork or processing problems. This is the fourth consecutive annual extension. Since distributions began in July 2024, more than 19,500 creditors had received Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash by March 2025. The trustee gave no individual payment timetable or updated count of outstanding claims.
