Mt. Gox moves 10,422 bitcoin worth $739 million to a new wallet as deadline nears
Mt. Gox transferred 10,422.65 BTC, worth about $739 million, to a new wallet in its largest move in months and its biggest ahead of the October 31, 2026 creditor-repayment deadline. Most of the coins, 10,306.35 BTC, went to a new address, while 116.30 BTC went to Mt. Gox’s hot wallet. The pattern resembles earlier administrative transfers before payouts, but the funds have not yet been sent to a custody provider or exchange. Mt. Gox still holds about 34,504 BTC, worth roughly $2.43 billion. Repayments started in mid-2024 and about 19,500 creditors have been paid, but the deadline was extended again in October 2025 due to incomplete procedures and processing delays. The transfer also came as bitcoin fell below $71,000 amid broader market pressure.
