NEAR Price Drops 7% as Token Issuance Cut Proposal Passes

Summary

NEAR fell about 7% to $3.82 on November 3 despite community approval of HSP-029, a proposal to reduce maximum annual token issuance from 2.5% to 1.6% over two years. The change could prevent 11.8 million NEAR from being issued over that period, but is expected to lower gross staking yields from about 5.2% to 3.3%. Implementation is not yet final: the proposal faces a 14-day Security Council veto window, ratification, a 90-day grace period and a required protocol upgrade.
