NYSE owner and OKX plan 24/7 tokenized stock trading using Uniswap

Summary

ICE and OKX’s 50-50 joint venture, OKXICE, filed with the SEC to launch a 24/7 tokenized-stock venue under a temporary Innovation Exemption. It proposes trading 63 securities through permissioned Uniswap v4 pools on OKX’s X Layer, using stablecoins and self-custodial wallets. Prices would be set by pool liquidity rather than traditional exchange prices, allowing shares to reprice overnight and on weekends, though thin liquidity could cause large deviations. Tokens must be backed one-for-one by shares and carry equivalent shareholder rights; eligible participants can mint or redeem them during regular market hours. SEC limits cap listings and trading volumes, and issuers may object to listings—Cerebras has done so. The venue cannot open until at least 30 days after its notice, making early November the earliest possible launch.
