PayPal expands stablecoin push as crypto assets factor into Q2 results

Summary

PayPal said stablecoins and AI-driven “agentic” payment tools are part of its second-quarter strategy, alongside identity and biometric technologies. Q2 earnings came in at $1.26 per share, below the $1.28 estimate and down from $1.30 a year earlier, while revenue rose to $8.68 billion, beating expectations. The company reported an $81 million non-GAAP adjustment tied to gains and losses from strategic investments and crypto assets held for investment, saying it excludes these items because they are not used to fund operations or actively traded. PayPal also said its PayPal World platform generated about $200 million in total payment volume between Venmo and PayPal.
