Reform UK party to accept crypto donations
Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, is now accepting Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency donations from eligible donors, making it the first major UK political party to do so. This announcement was made at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas on May 29. The party will utilize a platform from crypto payments provider Radom for these donations. Farage highlighted the need for the UK to catch up with the US in cryptocurrency acceptance. He also discussed plans to introduce a "Cryptoassets and Digital Finance Bill" if Reform UK gains control in the next general election, expected before August 2029. Farage proposed establishing a Bitcoin reserve at the Bank of England and opposing a central bank digital currency (CBDC). He noted that seven million people in Britain own crypto assets, with one in four individuals under 30 holding them. Additionally, the Labour government has proposed regulations to position the UK as a "safe harbor" for crypto innovation.
