Revolut Launches Euro-Pegged EURR Stablecoin

Summary

Revolut has begun a limited rollout of EURR, a euro-backed stablecoin, to selected customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal. EURR is designed to stay at €1, is available inside the Revolut app, and lets users move between euros and crypto on-chain. It works across multiple blockchains and with external wallets, with a broader EEA launch and additional currency-backed tokens planned later, depending on regulatory approval. The token is issued by Bridge Building S.A. in Luxembourg, while Bridge manages reserves; Revolut handles distribution through a Cyprus-regulated entity under MiCA. Revolut says the launch connects its 80 million customers to on-chain finance. The rollout comes amid ECB skepticism about stablecoins, especially their risks to bank deposits and monetary policy transmission.
