Revolut rolls out euro stablecoin in three European markets

Summary

Revolut is rolling out its first stablecoin, EURR, a euro-pegged token, to selected customers in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal, with expansion to more EEA markets planned later this year if product, operational, and regulatory requirements are met. EURR is issued by Bridge Building S.A., the Luxembourg-based entity of Stripe-owned Bridge, and is integrated into Revolut’s retail app with support for multiple blockchains and transfers to external wallets. The launch gives Revolut a MiCA-compliant stablecoin as it phases out Tether’s USDt in the EEA and Switzerland; remaining USDT balances will be converted to users’ base currencies after Aug. 31. EURR is backed by reserves managed by Bridge and is offered by Revolut Digital Assets Europe. Revolut said this is the first step in a broader stablecoin strategy and that it is working on other currency-denominated tokens through separate regulatory routes.
