Riot Platforms repays $200M credit facility, releases collateral

Summary

Riot Platforms repaid its $200 million credit facility from Coinbase Credit, fully paying principal and interest and releasing the collateral backing the loan. The facility had been secured by Riot’s financial assets, including Bitcoin, USDC and cash held by Coinbase Custody Trust Company. Riot said it did not pay any early termination fees or penalties. The company is also expanding beyond Bitcoin mining into data centers. It recently secured a 20-year deal to provide 191 megawatts from its Rockdale, Texas campus to an AI customer, later reported to be Anthropic, in a transaction valued at about $9 billion. Riot’s data center business has already begun contributing to revenue.
