Bitget Raises Hack Estimate To $387.5M And Sets Withdrawal Restart Plan
Bitget updated its security breach estimate to about $387.5 million, up from $351.6 million, after tracing additional assets sent to attacker-controlled wallets. It says this reflects more complete identification of affected funds, not a new wave of transfers. The exchange says the attack path and vulnerability have been identified and patched, so no further unauthorized transfers should be possible. Mandiant and SlowMist are assisting the investigation, and Bitget has launched a recovery bounty program; some funds have already been frozen with partner help. Withdrawals will resume in stages: Bitcoin on Sept. 28, Ether on Sept. 29, USDT on Sept. 30, and other tokens, fiat, and P2P services by Oct. 2. Bitget says customer balances remain intact and coverage will absorb the loss.
