Ripple and Water.org Expand Stablecoin Work as Aid Payments Move Faster
Ripple and Water.org are expanding their partnership, using Ripple Payments, RLUSD and wallet services to support Water.org’s water and sanitation financing. Ripple says earlier work moved more than $3.2 million across four markets, with transfers settling the same day in Mexico and Brazil instead of taking two to three days. Water.org’s WaterCredit programme works with local financial institutions that provide small household improvement loans. Faster settlement may reduce delays and idle balances, but does not by itself ensure funds are converted, disbursed or used effectively. Stablecoin use also requires sound custody, permissions, reconciliation and treasury controls. The partnership’s impact should be assessed through both payment efficiency and outcomes such as loan availability and household access to water and sanitation.
