Ripple Co-Founder Larsen Flooding Kamala Harris' Election Effort With XRP
Chris Larsen, co-founder of Ripple, has donated an additional $10 million in XRP to support Vice President Kamala Harris in her upcoming election against Donald Trump. This contribution is directed to the political action committee Future Forward. Larsen emphasizes the need for Democrats to embrace tech innovation, including cryptocurrency. His total donations to the PAC amount to $1,750,000, alongside significant contributions to Democratic congressional campaigns. The crypto industry’s campaign involvement is largely led by the super PAC Fairshake, which has donated $169 million, primarily from major players like Coinbase and Ripple Labs. While Fairshake aims to balance spending between parties, some crypto leaders, including the Winklevoss twins and Jesse Powell, support Trump. Donations from crypto leaders typically go to super PACs, allowing for unlimited contributions due to the Citizens United ruling. Larsen was part of a group endorsing Harris but has also supported Republican efforts against critics like Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
