Ripple commits $1M to boost crisis aid with blockchain and RLUSD stablecoin
Ripple has committed $1 million to explore the use of its RLUSD stablecoin and cross-border payment solutions for enhancing cash relief and fund transfers in crisis zones. A partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) aims to transform humanitarian aid delivery through blockchain technology. Ripple plans to leverage its global payments network and open-source solutions on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to support cash relief programs and cross-border transfers for those affected by crises. The RLUSD stablecoin, fully backed by USD deposits and other cash equivalents, will be issued on Ethereum and XRP Ledger networks. Ripple's payment solution operates in over 90 countries, facilitating over 37 million transactions worth nearly $70 billion. The collaboration seeks to revolutionize large-scale aid delivery by combining Ripple’s technology with IRC’s expertise in humanitarian aid, which has provided over $70 million in cash assistance across more than 40 countries. The partnership aims to improve the speed and efficiency of cash relief in areas with limited banking access.
