Ryan Salame’s wife to face charges over FTX-funded congressional run

Summary

Michelle Bond, wife of former FTX executive Ryan Salame, will face campaign finance charges after a Manhattan federal judge rejected her claim that prosecutors had promised not to prosecute her if Salame pleaded guilty. Judge George Daniels said Salame’s plea agreement was clear and did not include immunity for Bond. Bond is accused of using FTX-linked money to fund her failed 2022 congressional campaign, including a $400,000 consulting arrangement and additional transfers from Salame, while concealing the source of the funds and making false statements to regulators and Congress. Salame, former co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets, was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison in 2024 for illegal political contributions and operating an illegal money transmitter. Bond faces four counts, each carrying up to five years in prison.
