Satoshi Era Bitcoin Whales Move More Than $300 Million in BTC
Two dormant Bitcoin wallets transferred 3,422 BTC, valued at approximately $324.2 million, after being inactive since 2014. One wallet, “1NWPS,” moved 2,343 BTC (about $222.2 million) after 10.5 years, while the other, “1PiEK,” moved 1,079 BTC (around $102.5 million) after 11.75 years. The identities of the wallet owners and the reasons for the transfers remain unknown. In early 2025, there was a significant increase in activity among Bitcoin whales, with 62,800 BTC aged over seven years moved in Q1 2025, a 110% increase from the same period in 2024. This follows a notable resurgence of old wallets, including a transfer of over 3,000 BTC from a wallet inactive since 2016. Reasons for such activity may include selling at high prices or reorganizing holdings.
