Securitize Tokenizes Roubini-Linked ETF Under Dubai VARA Framework
Securitize is wrapping an SEC-registered ETF tied to Nouriel Roubini’s Atlas America Fund into a digital security under Dubai’s VARA framework. The move shows tokenization shifting from crypto-native experiments toward regulated capital markets infrastructure, where legal wrappers, custody, compliance, and regulatory approval matter as much as blockchain settlement. The Roubini connection is notable because he is a well-known crypto skeptic, underscoring that tokenization is being treated less as ideology and more as financial plumbing. That makes tokenized ETFs and funds attractive to institutions that may avoid volatile crypto assets but still want programmable ownership records and faster settlement. Dubai is using VARA to build a hub for tokenized securities, exchanges, and institutional digital-asset services. The main challenge for real-world assets remains scale, including liquidity, investor access, custody, and redemption mechanics.
