Slovenia’s capital of Ljubljana ranked as world’s most crypto-friendly city
Ljubljana has been named the world's most crypto-friendly city by Multipolitan, surpassing Hong Kong and Zurich, which tied for second place in the Crypto-Friendly Cities Index. The index evaluated 20 cities based on regulations, tax environments, lifestyle factors, and digital infrastructure. Key metrics included licensing frameworks, capital gains tax rates, GDP per capita, housing affordability, internet speeds, crypto ATM presence, and retail adoption rates. Singapore and Abu Dhabi ranked fourth and fifth, respectively. Madison, Wisconsin, was the only city from the Americas to make the list, tying for 11th place with Riga, Doha, and Riyadh. Slovenia also led in the Crypto Wealth Concentration Index, with average crypto holdings of $240,500 per owner, significantly higher than Cyprus and Hong Kong. The US ranked 17th with average holdings of $23,300. Slovenia regulates crypto under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), which has been positively received by the industry.
