S&P Global Agrees To Acquire Smart Contract Security Firm OpenZeppelin
S&P Global has agreed to acquire OpenZeppelin, a leading smart contract security and auditing firm, though the financial terms were not disclosed. The deal reflects how blockchain code risk is becoming a mainstream financial risk as more assets and services move onto tokenized and onchain infrastructure. S&P, which focuses on credit ratings, market data, and financial analytics, gains deeper technical expertise to assess the security of the code underlying digital financial products. OpenZeppelin, known for its libraries, audits, and security tools across Ethereum and DeFi, moves closer to the center of institutional finance as tokenized securities, stablecoins, and blockchain-based settlement systems expand. The acquisition is not yet closed and remains subject to standard conditions.
