Stablecoin cards enter ‘hyper growth’ mode as monthly spending hits record $1.17 billion
Stablecoin-linked card spending reached a record in September, with Paymentscan tracking roughly $1.13 billion across its broader dataset and $788.9 million in on-chain spending. Transaction count and recorded active addresses edged down, suggesting higher average spending per transaction, though address data is incomplete. Base led tracked on-chain volume at $216.8 million; RedotPay was the largest card program with $401.9 million in 30-day spending. Other leading programs included EtherFi, KAST, Karta and Wirex One. The growth reflects issuers using established card networks to bypass limited merchant acceptance of crypto, but providers still need to capture recurring expenses, salary deposits and primary-account relationships to build durable financial ties.
