Standard Chartered expands Bitcoin and Ether trading to professional investors in UAE

Summary

Standard Chartered has expanded Bitcoin and Ether trading in the UAE to professional investors who meet its eligibility requirements, including at least 4 million dirhams ($1.1 million) in net assets excluding their primary residence, plus relevant investment knowledge or licensed representation. Clients can trade through their existing bank accounts. The launch follows the bank’s September introduction of UAE crypto trading for institutional clients. Other firms are also expanding locally: Kraken parent Payward received approval from Dubai’s VARA, while Revolut has in-principle approval for crypto-related services.
