Standard Chartered moves to bring crypto custody in-house as Wall Street’s digital asset infrastructure race accelerates
Standard Chartered has agreed to acquire all of Zodia Custody, bringing its regulated cryptocurrency custody operations in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, the UAE and Luxembourg under the bank’s Securities Services division. The deal, which requires regulatory approval, follows shareholder and noteholder acceptance of the proposal in May. Standard Chartered says the acquisition will strengthen services for institutional digital-asset clients. Zodia’s software and professional-services business will be separated into Zodia Solutions, an independent infrastructure provider backed by financial institutions including Northern Trust, NAB Ventures, SBI Ventures and Emirates NBD; Standard Chartered will remain a customer. The move adds to the bank’s expansion across digital-asset custody, trading and tokenization.
