Strategy hits a 5 week pause on Bitcoin, using $25M to quietly buy back its own discounted stock
Strategy bought back its preferred stock for the first time under its new repurchase program, purchasing 288,930 STRC shares for $25 million at an average $86.52, well below the $100 stated amount. The buyback is meant to support STRC’s price and reduce future dividend obligations, with management saying it will keep repurchasing while the stock trades below $100 and not issue new shares below that level. The program still has $975 million remaining. At the same time, Strategy has paused Bitcoin purchases for five weeks, its longest break since 2024, though it still holds 843,775 BTC. To strengthen liquidity for preferred dividends and debt interest, it also added $525 million to its USD Reserve, bringing it to a record $3.75 billion. That reserve was funded mainly through $544.5 million in net MSTR share sales and is intended to cover about 25 months of preferred dividend payments.
